Safe connection with the load.

End components are the connections between the lifting means and lifting point on the load. No matter whether hook, dumper truck suspension ring, shackle or connection locks, all lifting means have to be connected to the load with the aid of an end component. The end component is usually connected to the specially designed lifting point.

Through its unique product and material portfolio – including numerous components for lifting means – RUD can supply the matching solution for every purpose of application. This wide portfolio is guaranteed by the material qualities VIP (Grade 100) and ICE (Grade 120).

What has to be taken into account for end components?
What are the selection criteria?

1. Connection to the lifting means.

Make sure that the lifting chain and the end component of the suspension have the same grade. For example, do not mix ICE (Grade 12) and VIP (Grade 10) and definitely do not mix them with other makes. Exceptions: the RUD ICE-CURT-K, which is only available in ICE, can be combined with VIP components; however, the WLL of the overall suspension is derived from the grade of the other components. You can also use an H-piece and VIP shackles for both VIP and ICE components.

2. Connection to the lifting point on the load.

The end component used must match the type and size of the lifting point. For example, safe lifting is only ensured if the eye of the lifting point lies in the bottom of the hook, i.e. the chosen hook is not too large.

3. Shape, size and weight of the load.

The WLL of the end component must fit the size and weight of the load. The type of load is also decisive. For example, use the RUD bale hooks for lifting stacked bales.

ICE-Self-locking hook.

  • Due to its innovative structure (finite elements) the hook is up to 25 % lighter than hooks of Grade 8 with the same WLL i.e. the next higher nominal thickness.

VIP Shackle.

  • High strength version with integrated safety thread in the shackle bracket.
  • Smooth bolt support in the shackle on both sides; bolt rotatable.
  • No bending strength in the thread, only a securing function.
  • Long term securing by driving in the pre-assembled tensioning sleeve.
  • Special thread so non-mix-up compared with other shackle bolts.
